Terms of Business Appointments An
appointment card will be issued on the first lesson and you are advised
to bring the card to each lesson so that future appointments can be
made. Driving licence You must hold a valid, signed current driving licence which will be inspected on the first lesson and will be checked regularly. You must inform me if you receive any endorsements during the time you are receiving tuition. You must inform me of any disabilities which might affect your ability to drive. Client well-being In
the interest of comfort and safety you are advised to wear suitable
footwear and comfortable clothing which does not restrict any movement or obscure visibility. Tuition fees Tuition
fees are as stated on the Prices page and may be payable in advance.
All accounts must be cleared before proceeding on an official driving
test. Postponement of a lesson by the instructor If a
lesson is postponed at short notice due to vehicle failure or other
emergency, an alternative appointment shall be made with mutual
consent. Should the postponement be a driving test, I shall be
responsible to you for the fee of the next test if it cannot be
cancelled within the required time (see test appointment document for
details), regardless of your continuation of lessons with me. You
should appreciate that it may not always be possible to notify
you of a cancellation if the breakdown occurs on the way to the lesson. Driving
tests take priority over lessons therefore, a lesson already booked may
sometimes have to be cancelled or postponed if I receives short notice
of a driving test. Where possible I will give at least 2 days notice of rearrangement or postponement of a lesson. Postponement or cancellation of lesson by the pupil At least 2 days notice of postponement or cancellation of a lesson is required. Late cancellations will be charged for as specified in the Prices. Notice will be deemed to have been served on the day that the communication is received, either by phone, text or in writing. Postponement or cancellation of a test There is a statutory period of notice required under government regulations for the cancellation or postponement of a test. If
possible you will be advised in good time of the advisability of
cancelling their test. I cannot be responsible for the loss of the fee
if you fail to immediately notify the test booking office. Details are
on the test appointment document. I
cannot be held responsible for ANY postponement or cancellation of a
test by the testing authority. If this occurs at short notice, fees are
still payable. It may be possible for you to claim lost fees from
the testing authority. If you fail to attend your test or do not produce required documentation, I will still charge for my time. Instructor guarantee I am
a legally authorised instructor, ADI No. 247406. The official authorising document is
displayed on the windscreen of my car and may be inspected freely at
any time. You may be accompanied on your lesson by a supervising
examiner, whose job is to ensure that the tuition given meets the
required standard. This is a legal requirement and is in the public
interest. The driving test You
will be advised when the appropriate time is to make an application for
a driving test. The advise will be based on the progress made to date.
It does NOT imply that the necessary standard has been reached or that
it will for certain be reached by the appointed test date. I will not
hesitate to advise, where necessary, the postponement of the test. This
condition is intended to save expense, unnecessary failure and the
consequent delay in waiting for another test and obtaining a full
licence. I reserves the right to withhold the use of my car for the test or a lesson, if of the opinion, the you are : - not at driving standard (test only) - medically unfit (including eyesight) - under the influence of drugs or alcohol - not properly licensed to drive - consistently late for or failing to keep appointments - in arrears over payments - considered to be unsafe to handle a motor vehicle for any other reason. You
may be accompanied on your test by a supervising examiner, whose job is
to ensure that official standards of testing are observed by examiners.
This is a legal requirement and is in the public interest. You are reminded it is your responsibility to take the required documents to your driving test. You
must produce the test appointment when booking the use of my car
for your driving test. If it is not produced I cannot accept
responsibility for incorrect booking time or
date. Lessons in own car Lessons may be taken in your own car by agreement and on the understanding that the car is insured for you to drive. I can in no way be held liable for any damage or accident. While every effort will be made to prevent you having an accident or damaging the car, it must be realised that control is limited without dual control pedals. In view of the extra responsibility entailed, there will normally be no reduction in lesson charges.
Insurance My car is fully insured for tuition and driving tests. No
liability of any kind can be accepted by me for the loss of, or damage
to any property belonging to you, or in your possession. Legal liability You
should be aware that my primary objective is to promote road safety and
in doing so I will have to issue instructions which should be carried out
without undue argument. I
will make every effort to train you to the highest standard but can in
no way be held liable for any errors you commit whilst driving and
unaccompanied by me either before or after a test pass. Complaints If
you are unhappy with any aspect of your tuition you should notify me
without delay and not later than seven days from the date on which the
cause of the complaint arose. Every effort will be made to
satisfactorily deal with the complaint, these 'Terms of Business' and
the 'Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors' forming the
basis for negotiations. Should any dispute be unresolved mutually, then you have the right to refer the matter to Driving Instructors Association, Safety House, Beddington Farm Road, Croydon, CR0 4XZ or Driving Standards Agency, Stanley House, 56 Talbot Street, Nottingham NG1 5GU. |
